At FISHAWAYS, the safety and well-being of our customers is our top priority. We’re committed to serving our customers the great tasting, high quality meals they expect from us, every time, making sure that the food we serve is always delicious and safe to eat.

The food we serve is fresh, and adheres to the very highest requirements, using quality ingredients while meeting regulatory requirements and international best practice standards.

All FISHAWAYS restaurants are required to uphold our stringent food safety standards in order to make sure we serve fresh and quality meals. FISHAWAYS restaurants are audited to make sure that all health and safety requirements are upheld. Our suppliers are also required to adhere to our demanding food safety standards and are independently audited to make sure food safety requirements are maintained at all times.

We take complaints related to our food very seriously and strive to respond to potential health and safety issues related to the food we serve as a priority.

It’s important to us that our customers have a great experience at our restaurants and serving you a fresh, tasty and quality meal will always come first and foremost!

Better Wellness

As a fish and chip restaurant, we don’t just offer deep-fried fish and chips; we constantly strive to ensure healthier choices are available, such as having your fish grilled as opposed to fried. And, we offer salads and rice as an alternative to chips.

Plus, we offer a range of Under 500 Calorie meals, which you can find on our menu under ‘Healthier For You’. This is to purposefully drive healthier eating for our Fishaways customer. Meals have been verified by our approved dietician and calories have been highlighted for every meal item on our menu as per government regulation. Fishaways prides itself on these Under 500 Calorie meals and aims to support this with accredited meal endorsements.

Better Sustainability

Better Sustainability

We are constantly working on our packaging range to limit the impact on the environment. This is an ongoing commitment and over time we will introduce new packaging options to achieve this goal, which are both environmentally friendly and functional. We can proudly say that the packaging we currently use is 100% recyclable.

Our packaging is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). This is the assurance that our product is made with, or contains, forest-based materials from FSC-certified forests or reclaimed sources. We are working hard to reduce our single-use plastics, with a ‘no plastic’ initiative in all our restaurants. This means no plastic straws and only issuing cutlery based on a customer’s specific request.

Fishaways supports fishing with the future in mind. This helps with the world drive to save our oceans and we support this initiative as we source from the ocean. Developing a sustainable seafood industry requires more than sustainable fishing. It is also about addressing the other aspects of the supply chain – from the fisherman’s hook, via the seafood vendor, to your fork.

The Southern African Sustainable Seafood Initiative (SASSI) was established in 2004 to drive change in the local seafood industry by working with suppliers and sellers of seafood, as well as informing and inspiring consumers to make sustainable seafood choices. At Fishaways, we support SASSI in their endeavours by ensuring the seafood we use is sustainably sourced and falls only within the GREEN list.
